I’m excited to share my very first Design Team project with you - Karen Foster Design-it Drawers! 

First, I sanded the case and the drawer fronts.  Then I painted the case with Walnut Stain Distress Paint and the drawer fronts with Adirondack Gold Paint.  (I really like that you can use the dabber top to paint with, or open the bottle and use a brush).  I dabbed a combination of Radiant Rains (in Teal Zircon, Copper and Solar Gold) on top of the gold paint.  I love the patina effect they give.

The clock faces were cut from Tim Holtz’s Collage Mini Paper Stash, covered with a thin layer of Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint (love this stuff!) and attached with Collage Pauge (awesome stuff that adheres AND seals!).

The Tim Holtz Label Pulls and the Tim Holtz Keyholes were rubbed with a bit of Broken China Distress Paint.  I punched holes in the drawers and attached them with long fasteners.  Then I labeled each drawer with Tim Holtz Label Letters (because what good is having all these compartments if you don’t know what is in them?!).

Inside the drawers are squares of paper (cut from Tim Holtz’s Collage Mini Paper Stash and adhered with Collage Pauge) and French Industrial Salvage Stickers, just because. 

Using Walnut Stain Distress Ink, I edged some more French Industrial Salvage stickers, covered them with a thin coat of Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint (have I mentioned how much I love this stuff??) and placed them on the case.

I covered the entire case and the drawer fronts with Collage Pauge before adhering a 7 Gypsies Square Hook on the side.  I attached a jump ring to a Tim Holtz Swivel Clasp and hung a skeleton key that actually opens the middle drawer.

I had a lot of fun with this project!  Hope you’ll try one, too!!

Great job Kim!  What a great idea and so useful for all those embellishments we all have and not sure how to store them!

1776/Liberty Tim Holtz Covered Canvas Mixed Media Project by Carol Becker

I love puzzles and challenges but hmm, never used crackle paste before.  I used a star stencil (TCW, sold at SP) and after mixing the paste with some of the gold paint, I slathered it right on the canvas using the stencil. After playing with a paper flag, I ended up making the flag with the crackle paste applied with a plastic craft knife. I  allowed the paste to dry overnight, given 24 hours, it crackled nicely.  I then painted the flag with Tim's Distress Paints. I used the pin dot stamp in the  background on the labels. For "1776",  I painted the green numbers with the yellow paint and distressed with walnut distress ink, applied with glossy accents. "LIBERTY" letters are Tim's letters. I cut a 3-d star in half (Debbie gave me that idea!) and painted with Distress Paint and the yellow sparkly paint. Ribbon idea from Tim's blog for the July 4th holiday, and I used Tim's star stamp for the center. Uncle Sam stamped and painted with Distress Markers, the sentiment was from the stamp set provided by Scrapper's Playground.

This project certainly was challenging. I used a new medium that I probably never would have tried on my own. I was pleased with the outcome and will use the technique again. Something new for your bag of tricks!
