Jean painted her pumpkin Pink using Ranger Distress Stain.   While the pumpkin was drying, Jean cut out the word Hope on the eClips machine and added rhinestones to the letters.  Once the pumpkin was dry, Jean adhered the letters to the pumpkin and added two pink ribbons.

Very cute Jean!  Stay tuned to the next release this weekend!  I wonder who's pumpkin will be next!

Miriam started out by giving the base coat of White Gesso and let it dry completely.  Once dried, Miriam sprayed the pumpkin with Dylusions Ink Spray - Calypso Teal.  Once dried decorate the pumpkin as you would like.  

Miriam then took a piece of white paper and glued it with Glossy Accents.  She then made a banner and attached it to the roll.  She then cut a hole in the stem of the pumpkin and inserted the banner into the stem and glued with Glossy Accents.

Very Cute Miriam!  Stay tuned till tomorrow when we release Jean's Pumpkin!

Today's pumpkin is by our very own Debbie Kopp!  Debbie's Pumpkin is called the Grim Pumpkin!

Debbie started out by crushing up sheets of deli paper and sprayed them with water and Dylusion Sprays.  She then tapped off excess spray with a roll of kitchen paper towels and then dried them with the heat gum.  Once dry, she then worked in small sections applying Collage Pauge to the pumpkin then ripped a piece of the deli paper and applied to the pumpkin.  Once the pumpkin was completely covered with the paper, she put a light coat of Collage Pauge over the top.  She then took redline tape and adhered it to the top around the stem and placed the black wed ribbon around the stem.  Even a grim pumpkin needs a little bling so she used leaf embellishments by Petaloo.  Viola Done!  Debbie is slipping to the dark side!

Great Job Debbie!  We look forward to our next release tomorrow by Miriam!

Kathy started out with painting the pumpkin with Silks Acrylic Glaze - Ginger Punch.  Once dried, Kathy then applied the Fall Banner to the side of the pumpkin, the flower to the top and the Fall pop up stickers using glossy accents to adhere them to the pumpkin.

When I opened my bag of supplies, imagine my surprise to find NO Stamps, and NO coloring supplies.  What to do?  What to do? 

 

But the pack of pattern paper is beautiful!  And there were clear "Thank You" stickers, along with other stickers, and pearls. Ok -- I can make this work.

 

I LOVE pattern paper -- and so do most of you -- or we wouldn't be in this hobby! 

So I looked online for a "sketch" that would incorporate several pattern papers, and I found this one from a site called "Retro Sketches"  http://retrosketches.blogspot.com/2013/08/retrosketches-79.html

 

I decided to use the sketch with the supplies to make 2 Thank you cards - one more feminine, one more masculine.  All papers are from the original paper pack.  Choosing different papers creates a different feel to your card. 

 

For the feminine card, I used pink colors, and florals.  I rounded the corners, added some sparkle from "Wink of Stella" pen, and added the pearls.

 

For the masculine card, I used the wood grain and hounds tooth paper.  I distressed the edges, and added some Distress ink.

 

These cards along with my next set were so much fun to make, and so easy!  I loved the Thank you stickers -- they helped the cards come together very quickly.  If you need a card quickly, you should really consider some of these stickers, and a pattern paper pack!!

For the first (blue teal with stripes and polka dot), I cut the polka dot on an angle.  Then I layered the top of the polka dots with a strip cut from the diagonal paper.  I cut a solid piece of teal, and layered another strip of diagonal paper.  This panel was popped over the polka dot paper.  The Thank you was cut from the sticker sheet.  A few pearls to set if off, and done!  CAS (clean and simple) and QAE (quick and easy)

 

The last card was a bit trickier to make.  I layered the bottom of the cardstock with the black floral paper (I LOVE this paper!).  The top chartreuse paper was a bit of a challenge to cut.  I cut an angle a bit larger than 90 degrees (an obtuse angle for you mathematicians) . It was larger than the card, and hung over the edge, but that's ok.  I popped this solid piece up.  I turned the card over, and trimmed off the excess edges.  Another Thank You sticker, some pink pearls, and done!

 

I really like these 2 cards also.  So simple, but pretty.

G45 Card Class, October 10th @ 7pm

I decided to use the frames to showcase just a few of my favorite techniques that I've learned from some very talented people.  I started out by covering the chipboard pages with fabric and tissue tape, then I dry brushed paint on the inside front and back covers.

 

COVER:  I ran the butterflies through my Big Shot with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, then used alcohol ink on them.  I finished them off by adding the stick pin bodies before attaching them to the cover.

 

TITLE PAGE:  I cut fabric and vellum with my Big Shot using the Tattered Florals die.  Then I stained them and attached a rhinestone center.

 

CLEAR ROCK CANDY:  I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I really love this stuff!!  This time, I cut the flowers from thin chip and covered them with a thick layer of Rock Candy.  To get the effect shown here, its best to let it dry completely on its own.  For the less than patient (which includes me sometimes!) you can use a heat gun to speed up the process AFTER it starts to crack on its own.  Using the heat gun, you'll get finer cracks.  Once it was completely dry, I used Distress Stains on them (a very cool technique I learned during an online class I took with Tim Holtz!)  I also used the Stains on the ric rac stems.

 

DYLUSIONS SPRAY:  I learned this technique during an LynnMarie's class and love the effect!!  I took some paper towels, sprayed them with the ink and zapped them with the heat gun.  Once they were completely dry, I peeled off the top ply and stuck it on Sticky Backed Canvas before running it through my Big Shot using then Tattered Leaves die.  Then I covered them with a thin layer of Clear Rock Candy.

 

ALCOHOL INK:  This is another technique I learned from LynnMarie's...painting with alcohol inks!!  Who knew?!  I'm no artist, but the combination of Yupo paper, alcohol ink and the patient instruction of LynnMarie's resulted in me being able to paint more than just stick people!

 

LIGHT MODELING PASTE:  This is some of my favorite stuff to work with!  Thank you, Sue, for introducing it to me.  I mixed a couple of drops of Distress Re-inker in and smeared it through a stencil. 

The background is a print I made using a Gelli Plate (another bit of fun I learned about from Sue!)

I started out by covering the body with Vintage Photo stain.  I also stained the tissue paper with Antique Linen.  I use Antique Linen on any paper I want to tone down or age a bit--even patterned paper.  I think it gives it a perfectly aged look.  I tore the tissue paper into pieces and used Collage Pauge to place them all over the body. 

 

Once that dried, I painted the top and the base with Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.  I broke the cardinal rule by using my heat gun on it, then dabbed Frayed Burlap stain over that. 

 

The wings were coated in Collage Pauge and dipped in Distress Glitter, then set aside to dry.

 

After my wonderful scrappy friends convinced me that I could, I actually sewed the skirt!!  (Please don't tell my husband.  Not that he'd believe it, but still.  Why take the chance.)  I attached the pearl trim to the ribbon with Glossy Accents and added it to her skirt using Wonder Tape (red line tape).  I added additional ribbon to the bottom of her skirt.

 

To finish, I used a Remnant Rub on an Enameled Tag, attached a jump ring and hung it on some Ball Chain.  Lastly, I attached her wings with Glossy Accents.

 

I can see this being a super cute project made to match the décor in almost any room at home, or a holiday decoration or part of a seasonal display.  It would also make a great way to present a necklace or bracelet gift, too!

Dress Form by Carol Becker

Supplies:

1 Jar of Distress Glitter

1 Dress Form

1 package of ATC Cards with die cuts

2 little bundles of patterned  fabric

Other items used:

Vintage Photo Distress Paint

Ranger Manila Cardstock

Victorian Velvet Distress Ink

Tim Holtz's Tape

Glue gun

Lace

Beads

Wax paper

Green or white tulle

Bling

DRESS FORM

Paint blouse area of dress form with vintage photo distress paint. Let dry. Spread glossy accents over the paint with  fingers  and sprinkle the  distress glitter over the glue. Let dry.

Roses:

While glitter is drying,  take manila cardstock and make a scallop pattern.  Cut out with scissor. Use the pattern to cut out fabric, alternating the 2 types of patterned fabric, cutting enough pieces to go around the waist of the dress form..

Make a mixture with water 50% water, 50% glue. Dredge each pice of fabric in glue and water mixture. Wipe off each piece as you remove from glue mix and place on wax paper to dry. Wipe off excess glue with a paper towel. Let dry. Fabric will be stiff when dry. This will keep fabric from fraying.

While the fabric is drying, take manila cardstock  and draw 3 rough circles and cut out with scissor, 2-1/2 inch diameter. Give each circle an uneven edge. Give each circle 5 flower petals.

Using sponge applicator, apply Victorian Velvet Distress Ink to flowers.  Spritz each lightly with water on both sides. Crumple gently, then spread out and dry with heat gun. Apply more ink as needed and distress edges with more Victorian Velvet. Blast with heat gun again to set ink.

Leave one flower whole, cut one petal from the second flower and 2 petals from the third. Glue together with a glue gun into rose shape.

Tim Holtz had a tutorial on how to make these roses a few years back. These  flowers can also be made with a die.

Repeat the flower again, this time with a 1-1/2 inch diameter.

Small flowers: Using manila cardstock cut 4 small 3/4 “ circles. Cut with scissor giving each flower 4 petals. Repeat application of Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and water as above. Put a green jewel in the flower center (or use distress glitter glue).

Base:

I used Tim’s decorative tapes to cover the base and applied with medium, let dry and distress with ink of choice.

Assembly, using glue gun:

Attach fabric to bodice of dress form.

Cut lace of choice and attach around waist of dress form.

Attach small rose to top of dress form facing forward.

Attach large rose to base.

Attach small flowers to body as shown.

Wrap beads around neck and drape as desired.
